Time for some ‘School Counciling’

Do you have a question about the school? Perhaps you’d like to know more about our activities or maybe find out what school dinners really taste like? Well, who better to ask than the pupils themselves, or to be more precise, the children's very own School Council.  Below you will find their responses to the most
frequently asked questions.  If you have any questions, then please do not be afraid to ask.
Will I make friends at Olveston Primary?
“Yes. You will be in a nice class. The children at our school are friendly and welcoming. The staff are also friendly. We are all kind and caring. The older children care for the younger children.”

How will I find my way round?
“The School Council will be happy to show you around. Mrs Slaytor, our school secretary will welcome you at the office.”

How many children are there in the school?
“There are 208 children at our school so far. Our Reception class is full with 30 children this year.”

Who is the Head Teacher and what is she like?
“Our Head Teacher is called Miss Bertham. She is smiley and caring, just like the children at our school. She likes chocolate!”

Do you play much sport?
“Yes. We have so many sports. Football, basketball, netball, tag rugby, cricket, lacrosse, shinty, swimming, gymnastics, dance and athletics.  The teacher who leads P.E. is called Miss Plews. We also have a sports coach.”

Will I be able to use a computer?

“Yes. We are very lucky. We have computers in our library and some laptops in both Key Stage 1 and 2. Each classroom has a smart board and projector.”

What are the lunches like?
“We try to have healthy cooked meals and lunches. Our school cook arranges competitions too. We always have a good choice like salad, pasta, potatoes, vegetables (and sometimes chips!).”

Can I ask the teacher for help with my work?
“Yes (unless it is a test!) Our teachers are always there to help. We also have teaching assistants to help us.”

How long is the school day?
“Our school day is 6 1/2 hours long. We begin at 8.55am and home time is at 3.30pm. Key
