Olveston Pre-School is a charitable organisation providing first class education and care for children between the ages of three and school age. We provide an environment where children can learn through play. Guided by our philosophy: ‘It's not what children can't do, rather what they can do', children are supported to develop at their own pace. Our Aims are to enhance the development and education of children under statutory school age in a parent supported, community based group, to provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment, to work within a framework which ensures equality of opportunity for all children and families.

At Breakfast Club we provide an alternative to the traditional forms of service in a church building. We meet in the School Hall at Olveston School on Sunday mornings from 10am to 11am. We seek to find God in a family-friendly setting, using DVDs, modern music, drama, art and craft activities, games, prayers, and simply meeting and talking together over breakfast (including croissants, pancakes, 'proper' coffee and tea). There are newspapers available for any grown-ups who want some peace while their children are in their groups. For more information click the link on the 'Groups' page of St Mary's Church web site or contact Helen Webb on 01454 615827.

We are a small friendly preschool based in Olveston who provide a caring and stimulating environment for children aged 2 ½ to school age. We cater for a wide variety of needs by opening around school hours where possible and offering lunch clubs on some sessions. Our philosophy is “Where the environment is small and friendly the learning comes naturally”. We work on a high adult/child ratio within a small group of up to 18 children.

Funky Punk is a music coaching service based in Thornbury and is run by Daniel Budd. Since Easter, he has been working at our School taking music lessons for years 3, 4, 5 & 6 which have proved very popular. As well as taking KS2 music lessons Dan is also an experienced guitar coach and currently teaches over 50 local children both in schools and privately. The ethos of Funky Punk's training is to use methods and material which are already popular within the youth culture and therefore to ensure music is seen as relevant, informative and most of all fun!

As well as providing parks and play areas, your council provides schooling and a host of other services to support you and your child. You will find essential advice and support for you and your family.
We know from your many letters of thanks that we’ve received over the years, that our scheme brings communities together. Everyone gets involved: children, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, neighbours, club members as well as parents and teachers of course! Your support is important to us and we aim to provide as much information as possible about how you can help the children in your community keep fit. So please keep collecting the vouchers which you can hand in directly to Olveston School.
We inspect and regulate to achieve excellence in the care of children and young people, and in education and skills for learners of all ages. Opened in January 2007, OOSC provides before and after-school care for children attending Olveston School. Hours are 7.55am to 9.00am and 3.30 to 6.00pm daily in the Wike Hall. Children are provided with breakfast before school and healthy snacks and drinks after school. They are able to choose from a wide range of activities on offer, both indoors and outdoors, whilst supported by friendly and well-qualified staff. The club is managed by Cath Purchase, who set up the club with another school parent in response to local parents' increasing need for childcare. The club was inspected by Ofsted in May 2007 and the report highlighted: ‘children are happy and keen to attend’, ‘older children mix well with the younger ones’ and ‘staff provide excellent role models’. Advance and last-minute bookings are available - email cathp@oosc.co.uk or contact Alex Hill, leader, on 07595910899
