Grand Opening of Little Acorns, our fantastic new library!
After many months of waiting for the building work to be complete, it was lovely to see the children’s faces as they entered ‘Little Acorns’ for the first time.
The children were joined by members of the parish, staff and parents to celebrate our wonderful new facility. Mrs Wood, Mr Bonney and Miss Plews entertained us with a retelling of their favourite story. The children also sang, ‘The Building Song’ and ‘Taller than the Mountains’ with great gusto!
It would not be an exaggeration to say that our new facility has a very magical feel. This is thanks to some wonderful art work created by a group of parents. We really are very lucky to have such support, giving our school that something extra special!
We are hoping that the new Parent Helper area will be well used by all the volunteers who give their time so generously. For many years we have wanted to create a space for helpers to have a tea or coffee and we are pleased that this space is now available for all to use.
The celebrations were only complete once the ribbon had been cut. Our eldest and youngest children (Ella, Year 6 and Molly, Reception) took great pride in declaring Little Acorns ‘officially open!’
It has been a joy to see the children making full use of the facilities over the last two weeks. We would like this space to be used and enjoyed by our school community. Please see the timetable below of library opening times.

Library Opening Times

During School: Monday,Tuesday & Wednesday lunchtimes
The library will be open during these lunchtimes for children who wish to return and borrow books.
Children may also bring in £2 if they wish to sponsor a book and colour an acorn book plate.
Children will have a weekly class visit each week with their teacher during lesson time, but may wish to bring in their library book to exchange on a lunch-time.

After School: Thursdays 3.30—4.00pm
Parents/Carers are welcome to bring pre-school children to read and share a story in the library during this time. Olveston School children will also be able to return and borrow books each Thursday after school.
