Accidents can happen! As a parent you will be more than aware that cuts and grazes on elbows and knees are a day to day occurrence in the life of a child. This is also the case in school, therefore the school has a number of first aiders who are trained to deal with the 'day to day' first aid within school.
There are differing degrees of training that is provided to our first aiders: the first level of training is a basic awareness level that we provide to all staff on an on-going basis. This is a non-certified training that is aimed at helping them deal with incidents as a first responder, this is the person who usually identifies the need to call for/or send to a first aider.
Running parallel to this is 'Paediatric first aid in the outdoors'. This is specifically for members of staff who lead specific areas of the curriculum, such as Forest School; the following staff are trained in this.
- Mr Dunn
The final level of training in school is 'First aid at work'. This is a level of training to support the adults within school with any first aid needs. The members of staff who are qualified in this are:
- Mrs Hemming
- Mrs England
- Mr A Hill
- Mrs C Newsome
- Mrs L Bradburn
- Mrs Dean
- Mrs Lewis
- Mrs Pitcher
- Mrs Phillips
- Mrs Michelle Pitcher (Breakfast /After School Club)
- Miss Mandy Welsman (Breakfast / After School Club)
- Mrs Suzanne Saunders (After School Club)
In addition to this training members of staff in school are also trained in the administering of Epi-Pens and the monitoring of asthma.
